About GFGC Koppa

Government First Grade College, Koppa, Maddur Taluk was established in the year 2003 with intention of imparting knowledge of higher education to the downtrodden students of Koppa Hobli. Government First Grade College in Koppa situated at a Hobli level, Koppa Hobli is a land of many traditional and agricultural activities contributing directly to the economy of our country.  

Koppa is surrounded by rich verdure of paddy and sugarcane crops.  The College caters to the educational needs of rural youth of the region. The town, well connected by both railway and road transport, is 20 km from  maddur to koppa main road It is situated in Mandya district of Karnataka. . The College, accredited by the NAAC with ‘C’ Grade (1.88 points), in 2016 . At present the college is catering to the needs of students at BA level with HEP, HES and HEK combination and B.com.  . “Imparting active education to the socially, economically and educationally deprived students of the rural malnad region.  The college  is affiliated to University of Mysore. More than 209 students are studying in the college and all students are from rural  area. Our college provides relevant educational through the well infrastructure  ,qualified and dedicated teaching and non teaching staff are serving for the overall development of the college and society.

 About Library

The Government College library has good Library and Information Center. It is came in to existence in the year 2004 . Thus, library is located on the second floor of the  college new building .  The main objective of the library is ‘To support staff and students of B.A, B.COM., development of academic activities and management with the view to provide up-to-date knowledge'.
 
Our College Library provides services, collections and facilities to support the educational goals of students and employees.  The Library selects materials in a variety of formats to support courses and programs as well as materials which are more general in nature and which support the educational goals of the College community. The  library is shaped as a center of excellence for academic and research pursuits, keeping it open to the changes brought about by Information Technology.
 
To fulfill the Vision and Mission of our institution, library was established with the collection of 609 books and now it is rich 10775 books  general books 2700 ,  SC/ST  books  8075 and unique titles of 4588 text books,volumes, reference materials like  ,Map, Globe, Yearbooks, Encyclopaedia Webster’s,  Dictionaries, Compitative Exames books , Personality Development  books , General  books , Autobiography books , Periodicals, Syllabus , Question  Papers booklet, Old news papers , new arrivals ,  CDs, DVDs,  etc. 
 
To broaden and enrich the student's quality in gaining relevant knowledge and to provide effective service to the readers the library is automated by using  Newzenlib software. Using OPAC Modules, users can search the library online catalogue by author, title subject, publishers and key words. Bar-coded system has been adopted for Circulation. Internet facilities are also available in the library .,Our library is providing online access to many free research databases, free access e-resources websites is available  at our college library website  https://gfgckoppalibrary.wixsite.com/gfgckoppalibrary
 
Smart Identity cards are available to all the Students & Staff of the College . The college library has three different sections Circulation, Stock area, Reference Area with 30 seating capacity and 2 computer for access network resource  , one computer for OPAC  . Our library  caters to the needs of more than 230 readers. The facility of “Open Access System” has been introduced whereby the readers have direct access to the cupboards and do the necessary reference. .  Libraries often provide quiet areas for studying, and they also often offer common areas to facilitate group study and collaboration

Library Services

LIBRARY RULES & REGULATIONS

 

The Library is primarily meant for bonafide students and faculty members of the college. The outsiders from other university/ institution may be allowed only with the written prior permission of the Librarian and a Principal for a limited period. They shall, however, have to consult the documents within the premises of the library.​

  • To avail library facilities,students and staff  are required  to present their identity cards ​

  • Silence and strict discipline should be maintained in the library​ ​

  • Users are requested to enter their details in the library visitors registor during their evey visit​

  • Students are informed to use property counter for their personal belongings only when they are in the library ​

  • Each student will be permitted to borrow 3 books for a period of 1 month​

  • Full time teaching staff can borrow 10 books and part time teaching staff can borrow 3 books at a time for a period of 1 month​

  • Renewals are allowed two times when there is no request by other patrons ( students & staffs)​

  • If a student defacing or damage the library books ,should replace or pay the present cost of the book​

  • Users are requested to borrow library books and return on informed returning date​

  • Reference Books, Periodicals, will not be issed in the library​

  • Special provision of issuing complete set of books for SC/ST, Handicap students and Meritorious poor students is practiced

  • Mobiles phones are banned in the library , if any body found them penalized and the hand set will be confiscated​

  • Students are informed to the internet facility only for the academic purpose​

  • If Student lost their I D card he/she can take duplicate I D card on a payment of Rs.60/-.
